Power is a necessary component of God’s work in the world. His power is manifested in creation and likewise in salvation. Jesus defeated all the powers and principalities that oppose us at the cross. He demonstrated His superior power over the darkness and in His resurrection God the Father showed His power over death in raising Christ from the dead. Now Christ sits at the most powerful position in life at the right hand of the Father where He rules and reigns over life.
Therefore we would ask where is His power in conversion. How is his power accessed? Romans 1:16 tells us:
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
The Gospel is the “Good News’ that the Christ has come and that He raises our souls from the dead [Eph 2:5: Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)].
Thus the power of the Gospel unto salvation is the person of Christ Himself and His power is accessed by calling upon His name. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” [Romans 10:13]
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” [Eph 2:9-11]
Therefore the power of God unto salvation is the power in the name of Jesus Christ who is Lord. So call upon His name for your initial justification and every time you need power to grow in your faith, sanctification, and bearing more fruit.
Amen!!! Thanks for sharing this Brother Bill. I was very ENCOURAGED by it!!!!
