To grasp the depth of the “Good News” of Jesus Christ you have to have to realize the Son of God, our Creator, has come to the earth. I’m not sure we can properly apprehend the depth of the significance of His presence as sinners but suffice it to say that the He is the Good News and once the Christ came nothing else matters.
People may agree with this statement and then want to debate about ecclesiology or eschatology but you’ve already missed the point.
The point is the Christ has come. Nothing else matters. Hence salvation is faith in the Christ. Period. Nothing else matters.
There are implications to the depth of the salvation He brings but Christian salvation is faith in Jesus Christ. Don’t talk about your church, your Bible or even your denomination until you have a singular focus on your faith in Jesus Christ.
Jesus said in John 5:30, “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;” Do you see Him in the Scriptures?
Jesus Christ is pre-eminent overall of creation:
Colossians 1:16, “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.”
Hebrews 1:2-3, “in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. 3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”
Jesus Christ is to be worshipped and adored. He is to be lifted up. He is to be preached and believed upon in the whole world. There is no other goal for the Christian: the exaltation and proclamation of our great Savior: the Son of God.
I Timothy 3:16:: “By common confession, great is the mystery of godliness: He who was revealed in the flesh, Was vindicated in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Proclaimed among the nations, Believed on in the world, Taken up in glory.”
11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.”
13 And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.” 14 And the four living creatures kept saying, “Amen.” And the elders fell down and worshiped.”
All of heaven is singing praise to the Lamb. There is no mention of your Bible, your church or your denomination. These are all means by which you know the Lamb that was slain but they are not objects of worship.
Do you worship the Lamb that was slain? Do you see Him as pre-eminent?
If not ask God the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ to teach you about Himself through Scripture. That is one purpose of the Holy Spirit: to teach us about God (John 14:16).
And pray the you would find great joy and adoration in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. For the Son of God has come and He has spoken to us (Hebrews 1:1-2) and laid down His life for our sins (Hebrews 1:3) and through Him we believe in God (1 Peter 1:21)! Hallelujah!
