What are the first three actions people take when they sin and their eyes are opened to their sin?
- They cover themselves with their own righteousness (Gen. 3:7).
- They hide from God when they hear Him near them (Gen 3:8).
- When confronted about their sin they blame someone else for causing them to sin (Gen 3:12-13).
Can man communicate with the living God His creator while man is in his sin? Yes. See Genesis 3:9-11, “9 Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 He [the man] said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”
Does this communication eliminate man’s need for atonement for his sin? In other words even though man can dialogue with God is man still in his sin?
Yes man is still in his sin as witnessed to God’s actions in verse Genesis 3:21: “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.”
This clothing was the covering required by God so Adam and Eve would know they were reconciled to God. The fig leaves originally used by Adam and Eve to cover their nakedness was not accepted by God as a suitable covering for their nakedness precisely because there was no shedding of blood.
This is a foreshowing of the blood atonement that Jesus Christ would make to cover our eternal nakedness thereby making it possible for man to dwell with God in the heavens.
