God is good. Then He takes action.

God is good. He is a good person / being. From His goodness does He take action. You have to see that His covenant of redemption with His Son is a result of His goodness. He forgives us of our sins because He is good. He grants us a righteous standing by faith in His Son because He is good. He grants us His own Spirit because He is good. His gift of eternal life (John 17:3) is because He is good.

As sinners we often are grateful for His redemption but still, as a residue of sin, we don’t believe He is good. It’s one primary reason Christians do not evangelize is that they don’t believe God is good.

To think of God as good also puts our focus on Him and not ourselves. That salvation is in total His work because He is good and that our response is gratitude! Gratitude is what the First and greatest commandment is: to love the Lord our God with our heart, soul, mind and strength is the highest form of gratitude we can express.

My question to you today is do you believe God is good and from His goodness does He take action. Examine yourself to see if someone asked you why you believe would you say because God is good?

Often God is portrayed as a righteous Being who sent His Son to redeem us. That is true. But that does not see God first as good because to see God as good is a matter of the heart. Gratitude flows from the heart. Does your heart believe God is good?
