The Lord Jesus gives three exhortations to take the “Good News” to the world.
Luke 24:46 – 48 “and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.”
Matthew 28:18-20 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Who does the Lord intend to benefit from this command? Would it only be those who don’t believe? Or is it an arbitrary command that is meant to put His followers to the test to see if they will do what He says? Is it Him whose Name is proclaimed in the world as the One who is the means of the forgiveness of our sins? Or His Father who would be honored as having compassion on all souls in the world.
All of the above: first, of course the Lord intends for all sinners everywhere to hear of His singular work of salvation made available to them if they will believe It; second the Christians preaching His Name and ministering to the sinners would naturally increase in their faith and wisdom in ministering to the sinners; the Lord’s Name would become great amongst the nations as the only Name under heaven whereby a sinner is saved (Acts 4:12) and His Father’s character of “who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us” (Ephesians 2:4) for sinners would be made known as heretofore it was unknown.
The point here is that there is no reason for every Christian to not engage in the Great Commission. In God’s wisdom everyone benefits. Consequently if you don’t participate you miss out on an intended blessing from God and probably many sinners don’t hear the ‘Good News’ as a result.
So what’s your excuse? Do you have options to participate in the Great Commission? Or are you looking for ways to participate? If so send me a message here and ideas can be shared with you.
Above all don’t perceive it’s acceptable to neglect such an amazing gift from our great God: being an Ambassador of Christ taking the ‘Good News’ to the world and blessing others in the process and you likewise receiving a blessing from our Father in heaven.
