Evening Psalm Reading: 82-85

Psalm 82: Is a plea for God who is the judge of all the earth to Judge the world in righteousness. One righteous judgement is to defend the poor and fatherless and the outcast and poor (vs. 3-4) and the last righteous judgement is that God will give the heathen their inheritance.

Psalm 83: Is a pleas for God to come to rescue His people. Their enemies say, ‘Come, let us root them out, that they be no more a people and that the name of Israel be no more in remembrance’. (vs. 4) Verses 9-11 the Psalmist tells God what to do the their enemies: “But do thouh to them as unto the Madianites : unto Sisera, and unto Jabin at the book of Kison; Who perished at Endor : and became as the dung of the eart. Make them and their princes like Oreb and Zeb : yea make their princes like as Zeba and Salmana.”

The Psalmist continues by imploring God to: make them as stuble, fire, a flame, ashamed, confounded. vexed and perish.

Why? Verse 18 tells us: “And that they know that thou, whose Name is Jehovah : art only the most Highest over all the earth”.

Psalm 84: The Psalmist expresses a great desire to dwell with the Lord. “Blesses are they that dwell in thy house : they will be alway praising thee. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee : in whose heart are thy ways.” (vs 4 – 5).

It concludes with verse 13, “O lord God of Hosts : blessed is the man that puts his trust in thee.”

Psalm 85: The Psalmist says that God has brought salvation to Israel in the past but will You now continue to be displeased with Israel? Israel asks the Lord to return to them to bring them salvation. Then in a prophetic sense says, “Yea, the Lord shall shew loving-kindness : and our land shall giver her increase. Righteousness shall go before Him : and He shall direct His going in the way” (vs. 12-13).
