GW Sermon #32: A Penitent Heart.

Rev. George Whitefield’s sermon entitled: A Penitent Heart will be summarized here.

If we could rightly consider, “how heinous and aggravating our offenses are” to a holy God we would pursue every avenue possible to refrain and repent of them. However we don’t.

When we do repent but are in the next temptation overcome by sin though grace is there for us and we still do sin this is highly offensive to God. However, His mercy remains in the person of Jesus Christ. Therefore the command to repent in Christ.

GW seeks in this sermon to:

I. Show the nature of repentance.

II. Consider the several parts and causes of repentance.

III. Why repentance is necessary to salvation.

IV. Exhort all of you, high and low, rich and poor, one with another, to endeavor after repentance.
