Psalm 95-97: Summary
Psalm 95: Worship the Lord who is God and creator over all. Don’t harden your heart and not worship God for you will not enter His rest.
Psalm 96: Worship the Lord, sing of His of His salvation, His wonderful works, His supremacy above all gods, bring an offering and say the Lord reigns! The heavens, seas, fields and trees will sing for joy. The Lord is coming to judge the world according to His righteousness and faithfulness.
Psalm 97: The Lord reigns! Clouds and thick darkness surround Him, righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne; a fire goes before Him devouring His enemies; His lightning lights up the world; the whole world trembles; the heavens declare His righteousness and the peoples His glory; be ashamed those who serve created images; worship the Lord who is above all gods; hate evil; be joyful and praise His name.
Scripture Readings Summary:
Proverbs: 5:15-23: Remain faithful to your wife. Keep your love devoted to her, let her alone satisfy you. Otherwise your adultery will be a trap, you will be bound by this sin and your foolishness (adultery) will lead you astray from the Lord.
Acts 21:1-16: Paul continues his journey towards Jerusalem. He visits with the Christians in Tyre and with Philip the Evangelist. Agabus arrives from Judea and prophecies Paul will be arrested and handed over to the Gentiles. Paul is unflinching in his journey to Jerusalem stating, ““What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
You can see from Paul’s various stops on his travels the fruit of his labors over the years. The Christians he knew, prayed with and who cared for his welfare. This account is very revealing to the extent of Paul’s work and fruitful labors.
